1. Thai Royal Palace in Bangkok

It is a complex of palatial structures blended with beautiful gardens. The iconic building was built in 1782 – it was the residence and workplace of the Royal Family, the Royal Council, and the Head of State for 150 years. The Royal Palace is now a popular tourist attraction with many monuments. In the palace, there are gilded walls showing the magnificence of the cluster of buildings.

2. Catherine Palace in Tsarskoye Selo, Russia

This 2,000-year-old temple is also known as the Great Dagon or the Golden Temple. The temple is a sacred site, keeping many precious Buddhist artifacts. The main tower of the pagoda is up to 98m high, the whole is inlaid with thin gold plates crafted by craftsmen according to traditional techniques. The crown-shaped part is encrusted with 5,448 diamonds and 2,317 rubies, topped with a 76-carat diamond. People here often offer gold plates to the pagoda to inlaid on the tower.

Matrimandir with dome covered with gold discs. The building is symbolic of meditation and yoga rituals. The name of the building in Sanskrit means “Temple of the Mother”.

5. Hungarian Parliament House in Budapest, Hungary

The Hungarian Legislature was built in about 17 years. The project uses 40kg of gold. The building is a combination of architectural styles: Baroque, Gothic and Renaissance.

6. Basilica of St. Mark, Venice, Italy

This beautiful religious building is located in Piazza San Marco, Venice, Italy. The church has more than 500 pillars of many expensive stones such as marble, and alabaster… arranged both inside and outside the church. The most prominent feature of the church is the frescoes on the gilded background that cover the entire interior of the church, making St. Mark also known as the “Golden Church”. In front of the upstairs window, there are 4 gilded bronze horse statues, each weighing up to 875 kg.
