Inside the Seabourn ‘Pursuit’: A 564-Foot Floating Art Gallery and Luxe Escape!

The New York-based atelier has designed four Seabourn vessels, effectively infusing elevated design into the brand’s identity. The latest addition, Pursuit, closely mirrors her sister ship Venture, spanning 564 feet, which debuted in July. Both ships flaunt a Polar Class 6 ice-strengthened exterior, combining resilience and elegance, reminiscent of Birkenstocks and Loro Piana’s artistic prowess.

Creating luxurious living quarters within the cruise industry’s stringent design codes is a complex task. Every detail’s placement, material selection, and layout required meticulous consideration. Challenges like motion and vibration were addressed over five years, from sketches to launch.

Appealing to discerning travelers, Tihany and partner Alessia Genova embraced the theme of “exploration” for Venture and Pursuit’s interiors. Designed with Italian manufacturer Roda, custom furniture evokes early explorers’ tools with mixed textures. Nostalgic elements blend seamlessly with modern tech, reflecting maritime heritage.

Tо differentiate Venture and Pursuit, Tihany altered the art apprоach. Bоth “flоating galleries” bоast a remarkable 700 artwоrks, yet each cоllectiоn was curated by different experts. This distinctiоn generates distinct vibes abоard each vessel. Atelier 27 frоm Paris adоrned Venture with “super sоphisticated” and “extremely detailed” pieces, transfоrming spaces like cоrridоrs with captivating handwritten pоstcards. Cоnversely, Lоndоn’s Dоuble Decker adоrned Pursuit with “cоlоrful and exuberant” art, like Gabriel Carucci’s Harvest, 2023.

Tihany’s emphasis on art transcends aesthetics. He established an enrichment program for art enthusiasts who view cruises beyond indulgent dining. In addition to art appreciation, passengers can attend lectures by experts, artists, and curators, deepening their knowledge. The ship becomes a realm of discovery as intriguing as its destinations.
