Many UK-based transatlantic flight connections are being rebuilt. Norse Atlantic will begin flights to Fort Lauderdale from London Gatwick on May 26; British Airways will resume service to Cincinnati from London Heathrow on June 5, 2023.

However, certain crucial American locations are still unreachable by the UK. These are the places we’d want to see.

Memphis, Tennessee

A great approach to learn more about the 20th-century civil rights battle in Memphis is to go on a walk. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was speaking from the Lorraine Motel’s balcony on April 4, 1968, when he was fatally assassinated.

San Antonio, Texas

San Antonio is unquestionably the biggest US city without a direct transatlantic connection, with a population of almost 1.5 million. A band of 189 “Texas Volunteers” were besieged at the Alamo, a Spanish mission that served as the center of the war. This battle took place there in 1836. The area is now a National Park, a piece of history smack in the center of a bustling American city.

A direct route would provide British tourists easy access to surfing beaches like Waikiki, adjacent to Honolulu on the island of Oahu, with quick connections to Maui, where season one of The White Lotus was filmed. Polar flight regulations have since been lifted.
