Jason Momoa’s EarthRoamer XV-LTi Is a Luxurious, Expensive Overlanding Beast

Obviously, this is an exaggeration, but in the niche of overlanders, few other manufacturers have had the same impact as Colorado-based EarthRoamer. It has been on the market for over two decades, delivering incredible and incredibly competent overlanders at eye-watering prices. EarthRoamer, a Ford F-550 conversion, costs $590,000 for the most basic, least expensive model, but a customised unit can easily cost up to $1,750,000.

EarthRoamers are for wealthy men and women who enjoy adventure but dislike roughing it. It therefore comes as no surprise that actor Jason Momoa also has one. Recent reports claim that he has been living in his RV, a custom-built EarthRoamer XV-LTi 026, in a friend’s yard since he and wife Lisa Bonet decided to divorce. In other words, she retains the $3.2 million residence and the stunning 1965 Ford Mustang convertible he restored for her in 2020, while he retains his favourite toy.

Contrary to rumours, Momoa’s EarthRoamer is not brand new. As mentioned in a previous post, he took delivery of it in 2018 and even drove it to the 2019 Aquaman premiere, back when it was acceptable for hundreds of people to congregate in one place and share the same air. One of the videos at the bottom of the page depicts Momoa’s arrival; it is also posted as an advertisement on the EarthRoamer website.

EarthRoamer is a well-known company, but Jason Momoa is arguably its most prominent client. In fact, Momoa has appeared in multiple EarthRoamer promotional videos, including a making-of video for his unit, EarthRoamer #211, and another video highlighting the unit’s rear galley. Interior photographs of this particular overlander were never made public, which is comprehensible given that a celebrity’s purchase of a product is unlikely to compromise their privacy.

Still, based on what has been published online, presuming it’s accurate, Momoa’s overlander cost roughly $750,000 to build, which is relatively inexpensive considering a fully-equipped, non-custom XV-LTi can cost as much. A Nespresso machine, a king-size bed, a giant fish aquarium for Aquaman, a pull-out sofa, and solar panels are mentioned as amenities.

The non-celebrity owned XV-LTi is a ferocious, well-equipped beast. It was described as “the most advanced EarthRoamer” at the time of its official introduction in 2019; it is an upgrade over the previous XV-LT model with a lighter carbon fibre monocoque construction, enhanced fuel efficiency, and more headroom.

Built on an AWD Ford F-550 chassis and propelled by a 6.7-liter Power Stroke turbo diesel V8 engine, the XV-LTi is equipped with a standard digital control system, lithium battery power bank and solar charging (11 kWh lithium-ion battery bank and 1,320 W solar panel array), and mobile internet. It is obviously designed to transport the modern digital nomad to remote locations, but Momoa has primarily used his as a work trailer, particularly during the production of the first Aquaman film.

A 100-gallon (378.5-liter) freshwater tank, a 60-gallon (227-liter) grey water tank, and two tanks holding a total of 95 gallons (360 litres) of petroleum ensure autonomy on the road. A 8,000-BTU air conditioner, a 13,600-BTU diesel air heater, a diesel hydronic heater, a small hot water heater, a 3G/4G Wi-Fi router, and LED lighting are also included as standard features. There is also a concealed biometric safe to protect your valuables.

The XV-LTi offers five different floorplans, each of which can accommodate either three or four passengers. The interior features a complete kitchen and dining area, a king-sized bed above the cab, a bathroom with a shower and ample storage space. Maple and teak, granite, Caesarstone, and stainless steel, as well as faux leather, are among the exquisite yet subdued, high-quality furnishings.

The XV-LTi, which rides on 41-inch Continental MPT-81 tyres mounted on military-grade beadlock wheels, is described as “the American dream” because it is an overlander manufactured in America, by Americans, and designed for exploring America. Jason Momoa is certainly living the American ideal.
