Justin Bieber Unveils His Own Vespa Design

Fashion and vehicle collaborations are no novelty—Virgil Abloh’s involvement with Mercedes-Maybach being a notable example. The latest player in this arena is Justin Bieber teaming up with Vespa. The iconic Italian scooter brand introduced a unique all-white Vespa Sprint adorned with a flame motif above the rear wheel, conceptualized by the 28-year-old pop sensation.

In a promotional video, Bieber delves into the design process, articulating his fondness for monochromatic aesthetics. He explains that the flame motif adds a touch of edginess, setting the scooter apart. As the collaboration unfolds, it’s evident that the worlds of fashion and automobiles continue to merge creatively.

Devotees of the “What Do You Mean?” singer are well aware of his enthusiasm for Pop art and streetwear, and the Vespa collaboration impeccably aligns with that aesthetic. Justin Bieber’s affinity for contemporary art and fashion has been evident through his actions, such as auctioning off artworks for charity in 2019, including pieces by Virgil Abloh. His Instagram home tour also showcased his collection of Kaws plush toys and Takashi Murakami artworks, in addition to his role as the founder of the streetwear brand Drew House.

This isn’t Vespa’s first venture into the realm of collaborations; they previously teamed up with sneaker designer Sean Wotherspoon for a vibrant Primavera 50 Vespa, and luxury fashion houses like Giorgio Armani and Christian Dior have also lent their design expertise to scooters.

Reflecting on his design approach, Bieber expressed, “Ultimately the goal in designing is always to put your own unique spin on things. When I’m designing I’m always thinking about is: Is this pushing things forward? Is this unique? Is this something that is trendsetting?”

Enthusiasts intrigued by this collaboration can choose from three different engine sizes for the Justin Bieber Vespa. Reservations for the scooters are set to commence on April 20.
