Enter the stunning Spaulding Square Home of ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ Star Jay Ellis

Actor Jay Ellis had to become used to an F-18 cockpit in order to play Navy fighter pilot Payback in the upcoming “Top Gun: Maverick” movie. He is now settling into a much larger real estate-type compartment, which is a completely different kind.

In Hollywood’s historic Spaulding Square area, Ellis, who also starred in the HBO comedy “Insecure,” recently purchased an off-market American Foursquare-style home. The 40-year-old South Carolina native reportedly paid $4.5 million for the house, according to public documents.

The gated home was first built in 1919 and has subsequently been “renovated, remodeled, and restored to European Five Star Hotel perfection,” according to the description. It has 3,418 square feet on two stories with three bedrooms and three bathrooms.

The house’s wood-paneled exterior is dominated by a striking columned portico that sits atop a front porch that extends the entire length of the house. Once inside, the interiors are sleekly designed with an all-white color scheme that is complemented by ebony walnut floors, numerous built-ins, and French doors that open seamlessly to the outdoors.

Formal living and dining rooms, a kitchen with an eat-in island and top-of-the-line stainless steel equipment, and a cozy family room with a fireplace are all found on the main floor. A pool room with wallpaper is also included.

The master suite, which has a walk-in closet, a private terrace, and an opulent bathroom with dual vanities, a Jacuzzi tub, and a glass-enclosed shower, is one of the three bedrooms upstairs.

Nearly a quarter acre in size, the lovely grounds have an outdoor movie theater, a sleek pool house, and a grassy, hedge-lined rear with a big pool and Jacuzzi.

The house is in a zone designated for historic preservation and is covered by the Mills Act, which entitles property owners to property tax breaks in exchange for preserving and rehabilitating historic buildings.
