World’s Priciest Rolls-Royce Supercar: Valued at $32M, Unique Rose-Inspired Design, Enigmatic Owner

Rolls-Royce specialists spent four years creating the model inspired by the rare French hybrid Black Baccara rose, famed for its delicate petals and unusual hue.

Rolls-Royce debuted a unique masterpiece during a private event in Pebble Beach, CA, during Monterey Car Week. Rolls-Royce will offer four Droptail items in the next years, starting with La Rose Noire Droptail (Black Rose). The owner of the recently unveiled La Rose Noire Droptail reportedly paid approximately 32 million USD, making it the most expensive automobile in the world.

Rolls-Royce claims La Rose Noire Droptail is inspired by the French Baccara black rose, famed for its delicate petals and striking color. This model took Rolls-Royce specialists up to 4 years to build. The automobile represents art, cars, champagne, and the owner’s love for his partner.

The Cullinan, Ghost, and Phantom models use the Architecture of Luxury platform, however this Droptail does not. Droptail’s monocoque chassis is steel, aluminum, and carbon fiber. Additionally, this is the first contemporary Rolls-Royce with two seats. The 1920s hotrods inspired the Droptail, a luxury roadster. Powered by a 6.75-liter twin-turbo V12 with 593 horsepower and 593 lb-ft. torque 620 lbf (840 Nm). Rolls-Royce claims this automobile can achieve 249 km/h and accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in under 5 seconds.

The Droptail is Rolls-Royce’s most unique model. The automobile is painted in True Love, a gorgeous, subtle pomegranate hue. Paint has a pearly shine and becomes deep crimson in bright light. Rolls-Royce says it had to repaint over 150 times to acquire the desired hue.

The car’s front has Rolls-Royce’s iconic design. However, the 56cm diameter alloy wheels are painted with Mystery paint, which seems black from afar but sparkles dark crimson up close.

The Droptail’s retractable roof lets the customised vehicle change personalities at will. The automobile boasts electrochromic glass that turns from opaque to virtually transparent using a button. Leather, wood, and carbon fiber make the two-seat cabin stunning.

The wrap-around wood from seat backs to dashboards is the highlight. The adornment of 1,603 black wood veneer triangles resembling falling rose petals is Rolls-Royce’s most complex. This detail took 2 years to develop and 9 months to make.
