Unveiling Synaesthesia: Gill Schmid Design’s Spectacular 65m Explorer Concept

Gill Schmid Design, a New York architecture firm, has unveiled its 65-meter explorer concept, Synaesthesia. The yacht would be constructed by Dorries Yachts in Germany and was designed for a “adventurous owner” who aspires to live “the James Bond lifestyle.”

The hull of Synaesthesia will be constructed from steel, while her superstructure is envisioned as a carbon fibre monocoque. This increased structural integrity will allow for expansive interior spaces devoid of columns.

Six guest staterooms and a full-beam owner’s suite with an attached lounge, television screen, and island bed provide accommodations. There are 17 additional beds for crew members.

The interior renderings depict airy, modern living areas with floor-to-ceiling windows, polished surfaces, and a proposed white and grey colour scheme. The main deck contains a spacious interior guest lounge and a dining room with 12 seats and an adjacent galley.

The interiors of Synaesthesia are also distinguished by the retractable glazing that runs throughout. This transforms the pool lounge into an indoor-outdoor space, to the benefit of the lounge in particular.

A touch-and-go helipad on the deck has been designed with a mobile platform that transforms the area into a “party space” when not in use. The bridge deck is designated for al fresco dining and has a glass floor that provides visitors with a direct view of the pool lounge below. On the open sun terrace, an infinity Jacuzzi, sun loungers, and a dining table provide additional leisure space.

A tender garage can accommodate a 10-meter limousine tender, a 10-meter RIB, and four Jet Skis, as well as a stowage area for drones on the main deck.

The announcement follows the June unveiling of Gill Schmid Design’s 73-meter concept Escapade, which emphasises a stronger connection to the natural environment.
