Discover the 75m Kenshō: World Superyacht Awards’ Motor Yacht of the Year Winner

The Kensh, a 75-meter Admiral superyacht, won the World Superyacht Award for Motor Yacht of the Year.

Out of the eight individual winners in the Semi-Displacement and Displacement Motor Yacht classes, the Italian Sea Group flagship was voted the winner by a wide majority by an impartial panel of judges using a secret ballot.

Six years will have passed from 2016 when the first foundations were placed for Kensh (a Japanese term meaning “seeing one’s true nature”), to 2022, when she will be delivered and make her debut at the Monaco Yacht Show. Her curvy silhouette and shiny green-blue paint job call to mind a Ford Mustang from the 1960s, but it was the car’s owner-driven features that ultimately won over the judges.

High deckheads and limited side decks, effective contact between staff and guests, vast, relaxing volumes, and the lack of a main saloon were all on the owner’s wish list after he saw around a hundred of the world’s most renowned yachts. The natural world serves as a major inspiration for most of Kensh. Natural forces through time are supposed to have sculpted the outside to seem like a pebble, and the steps leading up to the pool deck were made to look like they were hewn out of rock by the ocean. Jouin Manku, a Parisian design company, took on their first yachting project and aimed to recreate the same relaxing atmosphere by using a palette of soothing natural tones in leather, wood, metal, and glass.

Kensh’s five variable-speed generators provide the precise amount of electricity she needs for her diesel-electric propulsion system, which includes twin Veth azimuth drives driven by Danfoss electric motors.

This is not the first silver service the ship has had since she was built. In the Motor Yachts 500GT and Above category of the 2023 BOAT International Design & Innovation Awards, she was awarded the Neptune for Best Interior Design.
