Acionna: Andy Waugh Reveals a Remarkable 175m Concept Superyacht

British designer Andy Waugh has introduced a new idea for a 175-meter yacht, which he has named Acionna.

Waugh claims that Acionna may include everything from a helicopter hangar to a 20-meter indoor swimming pool to a full-size squash court (a nod to the padel tennis court on Aviva, which is highly regarded).

One of her eight decks has a double-height main saloon with panoramic curved glass windows looking out over a U-shaped pool with two cascading waterfalls. This pool area leads down to the swim platform and has a unique design, with a tunnel in the rear and a bridge in the front providing access to a ‘island’ of social spaces that include lounge and eating facilities, as well as two bars.

Waugh claims that Acianna is the ideal megayacht for circumnavigating the globe and that she disproves many common beliefs regarding boats of her size. Her stature and elegance make her a sight to see, and her cutting-edge fashion sense just adds to the overall impact.

The Acionna will not use rechargeable batteries like other electric vehicles, but rather a hydrogen propulsion system that will allow for extended range. It also allows the boat to be “zero-impact” provided the hydrogen is generated using a clean energy source. However, there are currently just a handful of maritime hydrogen plants in the works.

“The concept is for those who see themselves as trendsetters and game-changers, those who appreciate the pinnacle of luxury but also wish to make a positive impact,” Waugh said.

The 45-meter Revolution and the 90-meter Nouveau are just two examples of Andy Waugh’s cutting-edge sailboat designs from recent years.
