‘Alien civilization’: Visit a village with strange architecture in Denmark, creating a ‘surreal’, incredibly impressive scene

Travel photographer Henry Do seems to have encountered an “alien civilization” while visiting the beautiful Danish capital of Copenhagen.

On the outskirts of Copenhagen, a strange and idiosyncratic scene surprised many people. The village of Brondy Haveby (Brøndby Haveby) consists of houses hidden inside green trees. This place is designed in a perfect circle, as if “architectures” from another world have created an attractive space.

A recent series of images taken from above by photographer Hendry Do show what a truly unique place Brondby Haveby is, with the warm light of the sun shining on the verdant landscape creating an enchanting scenery.

Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark, is the city that tops the list of most worth-visiting tourist destinations in the world in 2019 according to Lovely Planet. Tourists coming here are attracted by the beautiful, unique ancient architectural works and the dust-free paradise with many bicycles circulating on the road.

“I didn’t plan to shoot this location at all, it was completely by chance. I was touring the capital with my wife and came across a few Danish citizens interested in my photos. They told me to go to Brondby Haveby because that place was built in a very strange way. I was not disappointed! This place is truly unique, like a whole pizza with each slice being a house!”, Henry shared.

The Garden City was built in 1964 when the city of Brondby signed a contract to create recreation areas. According to Henry, the design is based on the layout of typical Scandinavian villages dating back to the 10th century. Landscape architect Erik Mygind came up with the idea of circular design as a way to promote community awareness.

“In the inner city of Copenhagen, human living space is very limited. Therefore, this is the perfect place to enjoy peaceful days and return to nature. The owner is allowed to live there from April to October to take care of their garden (can’t grow anything in winter). What a unique way to make the planet better,” Henry Do added.

“The reaction to the photos has been amazing. I was very lucky, the light and conditions were perfect. Copenhagen gets a lot of rain, so being able to take this photo with lots of sunshine was not easy.” . Seeing this place from an aerial perspective was also really amazing. While driving, Brondby looked like any typical neighborhood around the world. Only when I held the camera above and flew around, my perspective just changed,” Henry said.
