David Adeleke, well known by his stage name “Davido,” a Nigerian musician, demanded $300,000 from events management company 2icentertainment in order to perform in Kenya.
According to a person with knowledge of the agreement, Davido charged them $250,000 for his performance costs, according to the local newspaper Nation. He needed an additional $50,000 to pay for his private jet.
“We paid the exact amount for performance fees the last time we brought him to Kenya; however, we received a reduction and paid $18,000 for his private jet, but as you can see, it was a long time ago. They may have attempted to negotiate a bargain, but it didn’t go well.
According to local media, Tanzanian superstar Diamond Platnumz nearly went bankrupt while arranging his Number One remix collaboration with Davido. However, this turned out to be a blessing in disguise for him, offering up a wealth of options. In order to finance the project, which was filmed in Lagos, Diamond had to take out bank loans.
With the inclusion of a private jet, Diamond Platnumz now costs $100,000 for each foreign performance. A bottle of whiskey, 12 beers, 24 bottles of water available at all times, 12 face towels, and more are all required from the host.
Davido usually takes one of his father’s two private jets—a $62 million Bombardier Global Express 6000 or a $35 million Bombardier Challenger 605—when he travels for shows overseas.
In contrast to the Challenger, which can carry 12 passengers, Adeleke’s Express 6000 can carry up to 19 passengers. Davido typically travels with 15 to 18 staff members.
They consist of his five-person band, a DJ, at least three bodyguards, a lawyer, and a manager.
Even if 2icentertainment had been successful in getting Davido to perform, they would have still needed to pay additional expenses as soon as the celebrity and his entourage arrived at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.
Davido prefers to stay in a four- to seven-star hotel and has a suite all to himself, which is covered by the host and typically costs $250 a night or more, depending on the hotel.
