Manas Bhatia’s set of AI-generated images called AI x Future Cities looks at the possibilities of sustainable infrastructure in a world where cities are growing quickly. With the help of artificial intelligence, the architect imagines a sustainable utopian city of the future with tall buildings covered in algae. The green buildings, which look like biophilic air-purification towers from the future, help modern society and infrastructure in many ways by lowering carbon emissions and the need for artificial cooling. Manas Bhatia hires Midjourney to make his vision come true. He gives the AI program text-based instructions to build this green, utopian image of architecture for the future.
The AI x Future Cities project uses Midjourney to imagine what sustainable buildings might look like in an ideal future. In Manas Bhatia’s AI-generated series, tall, futuristic skyscrapers covered in algae serve as vertical gardens and biophilic air purification towers for the green towns they live in.
Bhatia uses a mix of descriptive key words and phrases, such as “symbiotic,” “biomimetic,” “fluid apartments made of algae and bioluminescent material that act as air purification towers in a futuristic city,” “HD,” “HQ,” “hyperreal,” and “photoreal,” to create the striking images.

With the new trend of using AI in creative design, architects are using tools like Midjourney and DALLE more and more to imagine the places of the future. Manas Bhatia says that AI tools can help future buildings, like skyscrapers, be planned better and more quickly. This saves both time and money because it lets several different solutions be made and tried at the same time. “It’s clear that as AI gets better, it will be able to make more detailed architectural drawings.” This would make the architectural design process much more efficient and let architects try out new design ideas without having to spend too much time coming up with their vision, says the architect and computer designer.
