Rihanna’s Debut California Residence Fetches $15 Million in Sale

Another bidder fell in love with Rihanna’s Beverly Hills home. The Barbadian superstar lived in the boxy, modern home from 2009 until 2011. In the last 12 years, the property has changed ownership multiple times.

Last month, the mansion sold for $15 million to an organization tied to 35-year-old attorney and Troxel Law founder Jeremy Troxel. For pursuing class action cases against Tylenol, Coinbase, Juul, and Major League Baseball in recent years, Troxel Law has gained fame.

The sellers, Canadian healthcare entrepreneur Dr. Sheldon Elman and his wife, Dr. Meryl Elman, lost $15 million. The Elmans bought the Rihanna home from John Legend and Chrissy Teigen for $16.8 million in 2016.

In the 2000s, the 1966 mountain mansion above Beverly Hills’ Coldwater Canyon was renovated and enlarged. Legend and Teigen also modified the estate by installing a Thai-patterned ceiling, painting the outside and interior walls, renovating the custom kitchen, and refinishing the wide-plank oak flooring.

A hefty double-sided fireplace divides the family and living areas, while the upstairs principal suite, one of five bedrooms in the 8,500-square-foot property, has a handcrafted brass fireplace, private terrace, “glam room” and two showcase closets. Heated, dark-bottomed saltwater pool with canyon views sits outside. A vine-wrapped pergola has a BBQ grill and wood-burning oven. Other amenities include a gym and movie theater.

Rihanna, a millionaire owing to her Fenty cosmetics and fashion company, has another Beverly Hills house and two luxurious condominiums in Century City’s The Century building, including a $21 million one. Troxel and girlfriend Kristi Piacentile rent a luxurious property in Beachwood Canyon, L.A., and own a Scottsdale estate.
