Blaze of Luxury: Exploring the 230-Foot Superyacht Concept Resembling a Giant Flame

The newest proposal from Centrostiledesign’s superyacht division is hot stuff.

The 230-footer, aptly named Flame, has sharp angles and a tapering bow reminiscent of an arrowhead. Solar panels mounted in the form of a flame provide additional power for the ship. The appearance is eye-catching, yet there is more to the design than meets the eye. The yacht’s hotel load, for instance, may be powered by the renewable energy produced by the solar panels.

The Italian design firm said that the panels would “absorb the energy needed to keep the boat ‘clean,'” providing power for the boat’s utilities and coming in handy during certain stretches of maneuvering and navigation.

The sleek, futuristic design of Flame is reflected inside as well. The multi-story, open-concept living spaces were created to seem like an extension of the outdoors. Along either side, large windows let in lots of light and fill up the room with stunning scenery. The aft deck may be utilized for everything from al fresco dining to relaxing in the sun. If you really want to get your hair wet, there also seems to be a pool in the middle. A helipad is installed on the foredeck to allow for easy entry and exit.

“From the very first sketches, Flame has been perceived with the intention to give up to easy compromises between space and form,” the design firm says. She “allows for clean and decisive lines to flow freely from the bow to the stern volume,” which is where the yacht’s living quarters are located.

Centrostiledesign’s superyacht designs are often innovative and unconventional. In the past, the Italian firm led by renowned yacht designer Davide Cipriani has developed many innovative ideas, including a future electric foiling boat with the heart of a Formula 1 racing car and the agility of a jet.
