Brooklyn Nets Star and ‘Frozen’ Song Duo Acquire Luxurious Residences in Iconic Dumbo Tower

Ben Simmons of the Brooklyn Nets, Oscar winners Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, and other celebrities have all made investments in the opulent Olympia Residences in Dumbo.

Celebrities from the music, fashion, and sports worlds are taking notice of Dumbo, Brooklyn’s 33-story luxury skyscraper, Olympia. Recent rumors have circulated about famous people getting homes in this exclusive community.

Australian-born NBA superstar and three-time All-Star for the Brooklyn Nets Ben Simmons has closed a sizable real estate transaction. For a total of $12 million, he purchased a pair of 21st-floor apartments that are next to one another. The combined areas total 5,578 square feet, making them ideal for an eight-bedroom loft with extra patio space measuring 322. The home’s 11-foot ceilings and open chef’s kitchen make it seem spacious and bright. Given its size, one source joked that a basketball game might be played there.

It has been speculated for about a year that Simmons has been negotiating to purchase the combined property, which was listed for sale at roughly $13 million. Naomi Osaka, a tennis star, looked at the Olympia building at the same time as she was house hunting.

Two more notable people have joined the building’s list of illustrious tenants. The Oscar-winning songwriting duo of Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez have reportedly purchased two apartments on the 24th floor, as reported by Crain’s and Mansion Global. Their ingenuity as musicians inspired the hit song “Let It Go” from the Disney film “Frozen.” They dropped $11.34 million for two adjoining condos.

Robert Lopez is one of just a few of people who have won all four major entertainment industry awards (the Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony). Also, at the age of 48, he holds the record for being the youngest person to win the EGOT twice. He collaborated in the creation of the critically lauded shows “The Book of Mormon” and “Avenue Q.” Kristen Anderson-Lopez has a long list of accomplishments, one of which is co-creating the show “In Transit.” She has won two Grammys in addition to her two Oscars.

Their bigger apartment is 2,849 square feet and has four bedrooms, an expansive living room, a dining room, and a terrace with sweeping views of the East River and the Brooklyn Bridge. The second apartment is smaller, measuring in at 1,485. It also has two bedrooms.

A penthouse with 4,266 square feet and a price tag of $17.5 million is also reportedly in the final stages of negotiation with a well-known performer, adding to the property’s attraction.

At Olympia, you’ll find a full-size tennis court, two swimming pools, a bowling alley, and a fully-stocked fitness center replete with a juice bar, all spread out across an impressive 38,000 square feet.
