The Most Remarkable Cars in Lionel Messi’s Collection

Whether you call it soccer or football, Lionel Messi is a great player. Messi departed FC Barcelona in 2021 after two decades of success and superstar status after the club confessed it could no longer afford to pay him. Messi joined FC Inter Miami in June 2023 after a brief spell with Paris Saint-Germain, opening a new chapter for the great.

Messi is one of the sport’s highest-paid players, with his new Miami deal bringing his career earnings north of $1.6 billion. He can afford practically anything, including a collection of rare and luxury automobiles, with so much money coming in. Messi has owned several high-end cars in his garage, but these are his favorites.

Ferrari 335 S Scaglietti

In 2016, a Ferrari 335 S Scaglietti sold for $34.9 million at auction, apparently Messi’s most expensive automobile. That “thought to be” is significant since Messi has never verified that he owns the vintage racing car, even though it was widely reported at the time. Messi joked about the claims by posting a picture on Instagram with a Lightning McQueen toy vehicle labeled “my new car,” with smiling emojis.

This rare and pricey Ferrari hasn’t been seen in public since the sale, but that’s normal. Former F1 champions Mike Hawthorne and Sir Stirling Moss drove the 335 S Scaglietti in the Mille Miglia, 24 Hours of Le Mans, and 12 Hours of Sebring, making it remarkable even by Ferrari standards.

A Bentley Bentayga

Besides his supercars, Messi drives high-end SUVs like the Bentley Bentayga. After joining Inter Miami FC in 2023 on a two-and-a-half-year contract, the Argentine drives a Bentayga to training. As you’d expect from a Bentley, the SUV is opulent inside and has excellent craftsmanship, but it also has apparently unlimited power when you put your foot down.

SlashGear concluded that the Bentayga’s suspension compensates for its heft, making it more accurate and sporty while cornering than many SUVs. It’s spacious enough for Messi’s wife and three children, unlike his past supercars.

Audi Q8

Messi owns several Audis, including his Q8, in his garage. The automobile barely visible amid the throngs of supporters celebrating his 2022 World Cup triumph. In 2023, the Argentinian drove his Q8 through a red light in Miami.

No one was hurt, but the footage shows the automobile entering a major crossroads with fast-moving traffic from the side. Messi was being accompanied by a police patrol vehicle, but the policemen didn’t stop, following the Q8 through the intersection into oncoming traffic. The Q8 may not be engaged in any more accidents, since the great player prefers the congested streets of Barcelona and Paris than the motorways of Miami.

GranTurismo MC Stradale

The GranTurismo MC Stradale combines the GranTurismo S’s luxury cabin with Maserati’s GT4 vehicles’ race-ready weight reduction. Two seats replace the conventional car’s four, and it has 450 horsepower. In 2017, Messi sold one to a specialized dealer. Messi seldom sells his automobiles, unlike Floyd Mayweather.

This beefed-up Maserati is unusual, and the selling dealer appears to have known that. It cost $126,000, over $30,000 more than a comparable MC Stradale from the same year, although it was still far cheaper than M.

Audi RS6 Avant

The R8 may be gone, but Messi’s second Audi is staying. The RS6 Avant was revived in the U.S. for 2021, so the soccer star should be able to get one at his Miami Audi shop. Messi had three weeks to return his free RS6 Avant to Audi when the automaker’s long-standing sponsorship contract with FC Barcelona ended in 2019.

He chose the automobile from Audi last year, as did all Barcelona players, who could choose from the brand’s roster. With a twin-turbo V8 delivering over 500 horsepower and capacity for five, the RS6 Avant is the ideal family transporter for those who can afford it. Or, like Messi, those who got one for free.
