Explore Maluma’s ‘place to return’ – Villa surrounded by glass and art

Learn more about Maluma’s “return home” — a glass and art-filled villa

Maluma, a musician from Latin America, is on the cusp of international recognition. The musician, who has won a Latin Grammy and been nominated for a Grammy, has been holed up in his modern, affluent house outside of Medelln, Colombia. Recently, he showed AD a video tour of his “sanctuary.”

Maluma continues, “I have lived in this house for three years, and I have filled it with art, using a palette of browns and whites.” “It’s great to be home and relax in this space.” As the saying goes, “I needed this time in my life to enjoy and see all of the things that I have been building for a very long time.”

He’s been wanting a house with an indoor-outdoor feel for some time now, and he now has one. The main living room includes high ceilings and glass walls so that the high ceilings, glass walls, floating staircase, and lush flora can all be seen from any angle.

The white piano, KAWS sculpture, and horse-themed artwork surround a circular sitting area that has been cut into the light hardwood floor and has a sculptural fire pit as its focal point. “I love having dinner [here] with my family,” Maluma adds. He also mentions a second seating area, consisting of little more than a stack of rugs and cushions, where games like Jenga and Uno are often played.

The kitchen has a Scandinavian feel thanks to the all-white, handleless cabinets. Despite having a chef quarantined with him, Maluma still brews his own coffee every morning and drinks it out on his terrace, from one of the numerous cups decorated with photos of his loved ones. (His baroque Versace cup collection is seldom used.)

Maluma’s flair for design is on exhibit on the upper floor, while his fun side is on display on the lower level. He adds that it contains everything a quarantined person could want, including a fully equipped gym, a movie theater, a blackjack table, and a Ping-Pong table that is always busy.

From this game room, where a framed assortment of soccer jerseys hangs, you can enter the backyard, where you’ll find a large pool with a contemporary ivory-colored pool deck, a hot tub, and a meat smoker for barbecues.
