Grindelwald – Adorable village nestled under snowy mountains

One of the places with the first cable car in the Alps. In 1908, the Wetterhorn cable was started. Then, in 1912, a railway was built to connect from Kleine Scheidegg to Jungfraujoch. To date, Jungfraujoch is still the highest train station in Europe and a famous tourist destination worldwide.

With its spectacular natural scenery and magical ice mountains, Grindelwald attracted the first tourists, mainly British, from the late 18th century. In winter, Grindelwald has two ski areas: First and Kleine Scheidegg – Männlichen with about 160 km of slopes and 30 cable cars. However, the Lauberhorn slide near Wengen is the most popular location for World Cup racing.

If you want to explore Grindelwald in the summer, there are 300km of walking paths around the town. One of the easiest routes to visit the three world-famous mountains Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau is from Männlichen to Kleine Scheidegg. The challenging terrain of Grindelwald-First, Bachalpsee, and Schynige Platte is a beautiful sightseeing spot not to be missed.
