Milton Abbas , a charming and quaint thatched village located within the grounds of Milton Abbey

Milton Abbas is a cute and lovely thatch town on the Milton Abbey estate. It is often shown in pictures as the most beautiful place to live in rural Dorset. There are 36 wooden houses in the town. They are all made from cob and are very similar to each other. The cabins were made so that each one could fit two families. Some of the names of the houses, like “blacksmith,” “baker,” and “brewery,” give away what they were used for in the past.

The village used to be close to the Abbey, but in 1780, the Lord decided that it was disturbing his peace in the country, so he tore the village down and rebuilt it farther away from the Abbey. The first town used to be where there is now a lake.
