Prague has a lot more to offer than beautiful buildings, lots of beers, and a lovely atmosphere. In art, fashion, food, and other areas, the city has kept up with European trends.

This gives it a modern look that goes well with its historical and building brilliance. As you look at the many beautiful Gothic, Baroque, and Renaissance buildings (like Powder Tower, St. Vitus Cathedral, and Kinsky Palace), it’s hard not to be enchanted by the trendy shops, fancy hotels, cocktail bars, and microbreweries that line most downtown streets these days.

The different times in the city’s history—Slavic, Habsburg, and Communist—can still be seen and are interesting to learn about, along with the people who lived during those times, from Rudolf II to Franz Kafka. If you think the center is too much, check out Vinohrady, Žižkov, Karlín, or Holešovice. These areas are full of interesting things to discover, from small art galleries and cozy jazz bars to the clever public art of David Černý and many secret parks and churches.
