Culture and pop in Los Angeles

Start your trip with famous Hollywood landmarks like the Walk of Fame and the TCL Chinese Theatre. Then, take a walk along The Strip, a part of Sunset Boulevard with bright signs, restaurants, and well-known bars.

People who love music will feel right at home in downtown L.A.’s L.A. Live building, which is home to the Grammy Museum. The museum has displays and items that show how important Los Angeles has been in the history of popular music. Families won’t want to miss The Wizarding World of Harry PotterTM, Universal Studios Hollywood’s theme park thrills, and the famous Studio Tour.

 

Towns on the beach

In Los Angeles, everyone has a favorite beach. From the famous Malibu to the busy Manhattan Beach, each beach has its vibe.

The 5.6-kilometer stretch of beach in Santa Monica is marked by the famous pier. The Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica is an outdoor mall with fun things to do. It’s only a short walk from the pier to the arcade, aquarium, and amusement park.

Just across the street, Venice Beach is just as beautiful, but in a very different way. The beach is big, and the sidewalk is full of strange, or even ‘outrageous’, people who look like they belong in a movie.

Drive in Beverly Hills and Rodeo Drive

Single-name shops in Beverly Hills, like Chanel, Dior, Gucci, Lanvin, Tiffany’s, and Valentino, are synonymous with high-end shopping and eating. You can browse and window-shop these stores.

You can also people-watch here. Sip a latte outside of a cafe on the palm-tree-lined streets and watch the fancy cars go by, or try to spot one of the many famous people who live here while dressed as a normal person.

 

Institutions of culture

The Griffith Observatory, which is on top of a hill in Griffith Park northwest of downtown, is another great spot to see the stars and get a big picture of the city. This is just one of many places in the city that culture lovers must see.

There is the Getty Centre, which has beautiful, tall buildings and cozy museum rooms filled with popular fixed and traveling art shows. The Los Angeles County Museum of Art has more than 120,000 pieces of art from both old and current times. You can visit the Craft & Folk Art Museum, the Page Museum (which has the La Brea Tar Pits), the Architecture & Design Museum, and the Petersen Automotive Museum, all of which are close by.
