Drake’s Grand Gesture: A $65M Nature-Inspired Mansion Purchased for His Beloved Grandson

Pop sensation Aubrey “Drake” Graham, the newest resident of Trousdale Estates in Beverly Hills, has the whole neighbourhood in a frenzy. After a decade of living in the gated community of Hidden Hills, an hour northwest of downtown Los Angeles, Drake looks to be short-term tenanting in the 90210. Is there going to be a permanent move? Given that The Weeknd recently did it, why shouldn’t Drake follow suit?

The native Canadian is renowned for his infatuation with lavish residences. His residence in Toronto is reportedly 50,000 square feet, while his estate in Hidden Hills is made up of three interconnected houses. This year, the renowned architecture company SAOTA developed the equally luxurious rental property in Beverly Hills on a speculative basis. A fifteen-person team used a crane to carefully plant a fifteen-foot-tall olive tree that was brought in from Italy. The eating area, a semi-subterranean patio, and a twenty-foot stone cascade all flow around the tree. The waterfall emerges from a surrounding moat.

All of this drama comes with a hefty price tag. The house was marketed as a “natural” home because of the natural features used in the finishes and design, like the waterfall and the focal olive tree. It is unknown how much Drake is paying to stay in the house, despite its name, “Elementi,” as it is currently not for sale.

Situated on a prominent Trousdale hilltop, the half-acre property was last sold for $15 million in 2014, according to public records. The present property was constructed on spec by Luxford Investment Group, an upscale construction company headed by real estate agent Michael Chen, for the home’s owner, an LLC associated with wealthy Chinese film producer and art collector Wđng Zhongjun.

Drake seemed content in his new residence based on his Instagram photos and “stories” from the modern castle. The 18,000-square-foot house has a movie theatre, custom Minotti furniture, a separate “catering” kitchen with Viking appliances, an all-custom kitchen with expensive Gaggenau appliances, and a marble island.

The private owner’s apartment boasts a 400-square-foot private terrace with a jacuzzi that gives the appearance that it is hung above the hillside below, two exotic species of marble baths, and a closet/dressing area the size of a store.
