Colmar has half-timbered homes, a Gothic church, and old vineyards with lots of history.
Colmar’s architecture looks like it came straight out of a storybook about a town in the early Renaissance. There are cobblestone streets, winding canals, complex yellow-and-orange brickwork, half-timbered houses with brightly painted fronts, and a huge Gothic church from the 1300s.
This city is so beautiful that both the British and American armies chose not to bomb it during both world wars. It has one of the best-kept old towns in France because of this.
Colmar is also a great place to stay if you want to see the many wineries that are spread out in Alsace (officially called Grand Est). We can set up special tours along the Alsace Wine Route, which is best known for its riesling and gewürztraminer.
Even though it has so many nice things about it, not many people from other countries come here, and the streets are much quieter than in many other French towns and cities.
