Reine, Norway – This small and picturesque fishing village is one of the best places to stay as you explore the Lofoten Islands

One of the best places to stay, while you visit the Lofoten Islands, is this small but very pretty fishing village.

In Reine, you can find the airport 125 km to the west and the boat port Moskenes, which is 9 km to the east. The town is on the E10, which is a beautiful way to travel between the Lofoten Islands.

Reine is a beautiful village on the island of Moskenesøya in the Lofoten archipelago in northern Norway. There are red and white fishermen’s huts on the shore, and granite peaks rise up from the Reinefjorden all around the town. It is known as “the most beautiful place in the world.”

Our favorite place to visit on the Lofoten Islands is Reine. It’s a quiet town (Henningsvær is a bit livelier), but the scenery is out of this world. There are some of the best hikes on the Lofoten Islands close to Reine. The fishing town of Å is also not far away, less than 10 kilometers. Reine Adventure has an office in town where you can go swimming, biking, or skiing in the winter.

Some of the best rorbuer on the Lofoten Islands are in or near Reine (see Where to Stay in Reine). These are old fishermen’s houses that have been turned into places to stay for tourists. There is also a Coop Market in the middle of the town, which is great for getting supplies and cooking your meals.
