The Upper Middle Rhine Valley is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that has many beautiful towns. Bacharach, Germany is one of them. The streets are made of cobblestones, and most of the houses are half-timbered and were built before the 1600s. Bacchus was the god of wine, which is why the town is called Bacharach. It is in a valley surrounded by Riesling hills and was a major trade and shipping hub for wine in the Middle Ages.
