This building is called the Parliament of Budapest because it is in Budapest and is home to the Hungarian Parliament. It is where the National Assembly of Hungary meets. The building is well-known in Hungary, and many tourists love to come Budapest to see it.
It’s in Kossuth Square, which is in the Pest neighborhood on the eastern shore of the Danube. The building was made in the neo-Gothic style by the Hungarian Imre Steindl. It opened in 1902. While it was being built, it was Hungary’s biggest building. There were three cities in Budapest before 1873. They were Buda, Óbuda, and Pest.
They chose to build a new, better government building after seven years to show that the country was in charge. It was planned for the building to face the Danube. International ideas were put forward, and Imre Steindl’s were chosen. Based on the ideas of two other participants, the Ethnographic Museum and the Hungarian Ministry of Agriculture were built next to the Parliament Building.
In 1885, work began on the winning plan, and the building was publicly opened in 1896, which was thought to be the country’s 1,000th birthday. It wasn’t finished until 1904. The person who built the building first went blind, and then died before it was finished. In the #urbanexplorer
