Catania is an old port city on the east coast of Sicily. It is at the base of Europe’s largest active volcano, Mount Etna. This city has been named a UNESCO World Heritage Site because of its history, culture, and architecture. Some of Italy’s most beautiful Baroque buildings are there.

The city’s baroque pride is the Piazza Duomo, which is home to many must-see buildings. The Palazzo dei Chierici, built in the 18th century, and the Palazzo degli Elefanti, which is now the town hall, are a few of these. In the middle of the square is the Elephant Fountain. The tower is topped with a small elephant, which is the city’s symbol.

Without a doubt, the most famous thing about the city is the Etna volcano. One attraction is Via Etna, which runs from Piazza Duomo to the base of a volcanic hill. You can see pretty churches and houses with great views along these. People are always having fun on this street in Catania, which you will walk through. A national park covers the whole area around Mount Etna, and there are many trails that go up and down the mountain. Getting to the top of the hill is easy or fun.
